About this video

Someone sent me their version of my HexHub… and at first, I almost said no. But once I saw what Harold had done, I realized he'd solved problems I didn't even know I had. So this is the kickoff of a brand new series: BUILT BY YOU.

The old live call-in show didn't really take off, and I get it. Not everybody wants to jump on camera or audio. So now, you send in your builds, remixes, and adaptations, and I'll put them on the bench, give my honest feedback, and show them off. No spotlight required.

In this episode, we compare my original HexHub to Harold's remix:

  • A fully round SO-239 cap vs. my flat-spot version (and why that flat spot keeps your connector from spinning. Thanks to Mike K8MRD for that one!)
  • Caps that fit a 3/8-24 stud (Harold's also fit M10)
  • Top AND bottom support pieces so both the bolt head and washer sit flat
  • A BNC port option alongside the SO-239
  • Lever-style terminal blocks to tie your positives and negatives together

Harold's parts are printed in PETG. He doesn't have an online store, but he sells locally.
