Yes! The UV-K5 can be used with external devices for APRS, sort of.
The Swiss Army Knife of budget radios just got better with help from the AIOC (all in one cable).
kindly note:
1. vox settings, volume settings etc are likely to be different between different phones. your phone may not be as sensitive as my phone etc
2. disabling TDR will allow you to not be using a and b band. receiving signals while trying to transmit your APRS data will fail.
3. Thanks everybody for your help on the live stream. It was really fun to troubleshoot things and figure out how we can get this to work. with that, nothing in this guide is set in stone and things might need to be tweaked a little bit, but this is a good starter for your UVK5

6. sorry if it wasn't explained well in this video, but I do have another video where maybe it's explained better: The volume knob on the radio will control how well you receive signals and how loud the audio can play to the AIOC and then to the APRSdroid. what that means is if you don't have the audio set correctly on the radio, you may not fully decode APRS packets with your Android device. likewise, if you don't have the volume correctly set on the phone, sending data might be over modulated with the volume or two quiet to break the vox. My apologies that that wasn't clearly stated in the video. I'm one dude here 😎
