About this video

In this episode, I decided to set out to see if Carbon Fiber Masts make vertical antennas for HF, UNUSABLE.

This video is a collaboration of three things:

1. Me showing you the vertical antenna design I am using to get a 1/4 Wave on 40m with a 25 foot mast

2.. Me attempting to show the interaction between carbon fiber and a 10m antenna

3. Me showing 40m and making a couple of contacts.

Why make this video?:

This was a question asked in a recent video I made and a question I needed to answer before I make the Lt. Duex (First one made here youtu.be/hkOVlHnH9eE (sadly, i don't know what happened to the stl files)).

Videos I followed to learn testing a bit better:

Skycharter - "Are atnennas altered int eh presence of carbon fiber masts" youtube.com/watch?v=1cSqvctaIRs

Richard Newstead - "Do carbon fibre masts Absorb Radiowaves?" youtu.be/idx1zdmeIOs

Here I test the interaction briefly with an antenna analyzer and then I go out in the field to test making contacts. Will a vertical antenna work next to carbon fiber?

Equipment used -

Yaesu FT-891

Cable Xperts RG8X
Times Technology Antenna Analyzer
